Abu Mahoud from Ein Yabrud in the West Bank travels to Birzeit, Palestine, with his wife to pick wild Sage. Together they dry it so it can be used in tea and sent to their three children who have been forced to find work abroad in New York, California and Abu Dhabi. Many young Palestinians are being forced to leave and seek work abroad as their economic opportunities are slowly diminishing. President Trump’s decision to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem has legitimised the illegal annexation of East Jerusalem and the West Bank in the eyes of the Israelis. This move by the US Government has emboldened the Israeli occupation and caused reactionary protests from the Palestinians.

“The Sage from Birzeit tastes the best. It tastes like home.” Abu Mahmoud.

Made on 35mm film.
